Human rights
This topic speaks about human rights, what it is, how human rights are related to us and how to protect them
Local, national, regional and international human rights bodies
As a citizen you can also turn on local courts and other relevant bodies at first, and in case you do not succeed there, you have a chance to opt for some of the regional or international bodies. These are kinds of mechanisms which should, in theory, guarantee our human rights.
There are various human rights bodies at all levels. These can be various human rights commissions, committees and courts, which create the heart of the human rights protection mechanisms. Some of them are stronger, some of them virtually toothless. In some cases these mechanisms have quite little power, or literally no power, and are often ignored by member states; in other cases these mechanisms represent great political and legal authority, and their decisions are almost always implemented. Examples of the first type of them is the UN treaty committees, example of the second type is the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg (has nothing in common with the EU).
