Pointing at another wrong
Pointing at another wrong is a technique regularly used not only in Slovak politics. Its aim is to distract attention from something negative by pointing at something similarly negative what was not punished before.
“Why should I separate waste? Nobody do that.”
Explanation: Author of statement tries to defend his laziness by arguing that the others are lazy, too.
“Could you, please, explain me why are you giving me fine when you have allowed the car in front of me to go away without it?”
Explanation: Author of this statement tries to defend his doings - breaking the regulations - by saying that also others do so.
“You were also stealing during your administration term!”
Explanation: Is there any difference if previous administration was also stealing? No, theft is theft.
