This topic explains what civil society means, how does it work and how we can valorise it

The society where the people gather

The civil society can be understood as a space beyond the activities, that are organized and performed by government or business sector – activities independent from the governmental power and their goals are not aimed to obtain profit but to fulfill group or public interest.

The non-governmental association was established in spring 2011 as a result of friendly talks, ambitions and desire to provide small bits of help towards creation of better world. The main vision and mission of Pluto NGO is social inclusion (reintegration) in innovative way. The idea is to connect people with special needs and different disabilities in order to cooperate and participate on creative activities and their networking, which can lead to the production of unique pluto-products and at the same time increase the quality of their lives.

The goal is to bring them joy of accomplishment, a feeling of satisfaction and social acceptance during the creative process of pluto-products’ making in sheltered workshops or social centers. The founders want to offer all our co-workers a good mood, new adventures and experiences! The linkage of charity and fashion (production of fashion models and accessories in Slovak social facilities) is definitely an innovative way of social inclusion, but also the model of financing and sustainability (based on social enterprise basis) is very new in Central and Eastern Europe where Slovakia belongs to.
