Mobility

Around 20% of the average European footprint comes from the area of mobility. This proportion is generated mostly by flying and the driving of cars, but also by the use of scooters, motorcycles, buses and trains. The footprint can be reduced by the use of environmentally friendly cars, increasing bicycle use and above all by avoiding occasional flights.

Indeed tourism is an important source of income globally and grew in relation to other sectors by 4% in 2012. Ever more people spend their holidays in developing countries, especially Pacific islands and the Asian continent are growing in popularity as international tourist destinations. China is already the third most visited country, behind France and the USA.
