This module explains what global economy is, describes global production chains patterns and how and who is making the rules
How does the world economy work?
The trade in raw materials, products and services across national borders and continents has existed for millenia, as the examples of cotton and coffee show. With the industrial revolution and the specialization, trade spread so widely that rules governing it were agreed in the middle of the 20th century. But who makes these rules? Who profits from this system? The answers to these questions is the focus of the following section.
- Get to know the most important players in the global economy
- Learn what free trade is
- Learn how the global economy works through the examples of chicken and textile production
